Job Summary

The Indigenous Relations Specialist will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with Indigenous leaders, communities, and businesses in the region. This role will involve coordinating and facilitating community engagement and relationship management initiatives, as well as advising operational project teams on regulatory and planning strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Community Engagement: Lead internal collaboration and alignment of key stakeholders to implement initiatives that strengthen communication with Indigenous communities.
  2. Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with local Indigenous leadership and communities.
  3. Strategic Planning: Participate in short and long-range planning, establishing Indigenous-related priorities and business development opportunities.
  4. Coordination: Act as a central coordination point for navigating relationships and partnership initiatives between Volkswagen Group of America and Indigenous communities and businesses.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement: Engage and work with local, regional, and national leaders in Indigenous engagement to learn about strategy and practice, understand trends and developments, and how they may impact Volkswagen Group of America, our partners, and customers.
  6. Business Development: Participate in Volkswagen Group of America's Indigenous relations strategies, including identifying potential business opportunities with Indigenous groups.
  7. Representation: Actively represent the company in relevant meetings and events.
  8. Participation and Engagement: Develop and implement Indigenous-related participation and engagement plans, as required.
  9. Issue Monitoring: Identify, track, and monitor issues, concerns, and interests identified by Indigenous groups.
  10. Relationship Support: Support Volkswagen Group of America's St. Thomas facility's practitioners in developing effective, respectful, and sustainable relationships with Indigenous communities, organizations, and businesses to foster dialogue.

This is a flex hybrid model, requiring 2 days per week in the St. Thomas office.
