POSITION OVERVIEW

ROLE SUMMARY

The Outreach Worker for Homelessness plays a vital role in engaging with individuals who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness across various community settings. This position collaborates closely with shelters and supportive housing organizations to ensure a seamless integration of services and support. The worker is a key member of a regional team focused on homelessness and encampment response.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of a High School diploma along with relevant post-secondary education.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with individuals facing homelessness and associated challenges.
  • Background in crisis intervention and coordination with housing service providers.
  • Understanding of the factors contributing to homelessness, including mental health and substance use issues.
  • Acknowledgment of the importance of cultural connections in providing support.
  • Strong communication and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Competence in utilizing MS Office applications and other computer tools.
  • Ability to engage with diverse populations with empathy and maintain confidentiality.
  • Capacity to build partnerships and establish trust within the community.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a dependable vehicle are necessary.
  • Must be willing to undergo a criminal record check and security clearance.
