About the Role

The Health and Safety Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring a safe working environment by implementing and overseeing health and safety protocols. This position is essential for fostering a culture of safety within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and enforce established health and safety procedures in alignment with company policies and regional regulations.
  • Conduct thorough workplace risk assessments in collaboration with the Health and Safety Committee.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of health and safety policies in partnership with site stakeholders.
  • Provide training to employees on the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety controls.
  • Perform daily safety inspections and meetings to ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • Lead incident investigations and coordinate corrective actions with relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective communication of safety topics during team meetings and training sessions.
  • Monitor and report on health and safety performance metrics, including incidents and compliance rates.
  • Collaborate with management to enhance sanitation practices and prevent future incidents.
  • Manage the inventory of safety supplies, ensuring cost-effectiveness and availability.
  • Comply with occupational health and safety regulations and standards.
  • Follow up with employees regarding modified duties as part of the claims management process.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a health and safety role.
  • Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service and foster a safety-oriented culture.
  • Strong attention to detail with the capability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a high level of accuracy in administrative tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including active listening.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite applications.
