Your Contributions:

As a key member of a multi-disciplinary organization, you will engage in the development of high-baud rate modems for next-generation optical communication networks. You will join a specialized team focused on designing custom high-speed analog and RF integrated circuits utilizing advanced nano-scale CMOS and BiCMOS technologies.

In this senior role within the Analog/RF team, you will be responsible for designing critical high-speed circuits, starting from the transistor level and advancing to complex multi-functional blocks. Candidates must possess extensive experience in all facets of the analog/RF design process, including device-level investigations, architectural exploration, large-signal simulation, physical implementation, electromagnetic and reliability assessments, and comprehensive verification. Strong communication skills are essential, along with a proven track record of successful designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Originate and develop new circuit concepts independently, from inception to completion.
  • Execute entire nanoscale CMOS design flows at 10 nm process nodes and below.
  • Provide regular updates on progress through participation in design review meetings.
  • Collaborate closely with team members and the broader technical community at Ciena.

Essential Qualifications:

  • MSc/MEng degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Physics/Science with an electrical sub-option.
  • A minimum of 5 years of post-graduate experience with a proven track record of design success and innovation.
  • Expertise in RF design with CMOS, BiCMOS, or III-V technology, along with training in RFIC/Microwave theory.
  • Deep understanding of semiconductor technology, fabrication, non-linear device modeling, and physical layout techniques.
  • Proficiency in using engineering tools from Cadence, Mentor, and Synopsys for analog design.
  • Familiarity with ADS, Eldo, HFSS, and/or Microwave Office is advantageous.
  • A self-motivated individual capable of working independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Programming skills in Python, Matlab, C++, and Skill.
  • Hands-on experience with VNAs, BERT, SpecA, and high-speed sampling or real-time scopes.

Compensation and Benefits:

The annual salary range for this position is $102,900 - $164,500 CAD, reflecting variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations.
