Join 407 ETR in maintaining the safety and efficiency of our highway network as a Field Operations Patroller. In this role, you will be responsible for patrolling the highway corridor, assessing road conditions, and taking action to ensure optimal requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities:- Drive a patrol vehicle to patrol the highway corridor and assess road conditions.
- Conduct annual inspections and reviews of roadway and highway assets to ensure optimal requirements are met.
- Respond to and assist in the coordination of incident response and emergency situations, such as collisions, traffic control, and debris in live lanes.
- Coordinate, inspect, and direct winter maintenance operations.
- Work in all weather conditions, both in and out of the vehicle.
- Collect and document incident data related to highway damage.
- Install and remove traffic control and lane closures in accordance with the Ontario Traffic Manual Book 7.
- Assist motorists with mechanical or other difficulties.
- Maintenance operations in the summer, including grass cutting, fence repair, tree cutting, crash system repair, sign installation, etc.
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in construction, road maintenance, or a relevant field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of road repair/maintenance summer and winter procedures, contract administration, and inspection, maintenance-related acts/regulations.
- Demonstrated experience using computers/applications.
- Experienced in pavement inspection and design.
- Ability to work independently and with others with little supervision.
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Ontario Traffic Manual (Book 7).
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
- Ability to make decisions quickly under pressure.
- Valid Class DZ driver's license.
- Good knowledge of GTA freeways and surrounding arterial roadways.
- Shift work required (rotating schedule, day and night work).
- Position requires driving and directing winter operations during winter storms.
- Other duties as assigned.
