Job Title: Field Operations Patroller

At 407 ETR, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Operations Patroller to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our highway corridor.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive a patrol vehicle to patrol the highway corridor, assessing road conditions and determining necessary actions.
  • Conduct annual inspections and reviews of roadway and highway assets to ensure optimal performance.
  • Respond to and assist in coordinating incident response and emergency situations, such as collisions, traffic control, and debris in live lanes.
  • Coordinate, inspect, and direct winter maintenance operations.
  • Work in all weather conditions, both in and out of the vehicle.
  • Collect and document incident data related to highway damage.
  • Install and remove traffic control and lane closures in accordance with the Ontario Traffic Manual Book 7.
  • Assist motorists with mechanical or other difficulties.
  • Maintenance operations in the summer, including grass cutting, fence repair, tree cutting, crash system repair, sign installation, etc.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in construction, road maintenance, or a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of road repair/maintenance summer and winter procedures, contract administration, and inspection.
  • Demonstrated experience using computers/applications.
  • Experienced in pavement inspection and design.
  • Ability to work independently and with others with little supervision.
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Ontario Traffic Manual (Book 7).
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to make decisions quickly under pressure.
  • Valid Class DZ driver's license.
  • Good knowledge of GTA freeways and surrounding arterial roadways.
  • Shift work required (rotating schedule, day and night work).
  • Position requires driving and directing winter operations during winter storms.
  • Other duties as assigned.
