The Fund Operations team plays a crucial role in the operational aspects related to the Alternative Investment Funds developed by Wealthsimple, as well as any future fund initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Fund Operations team, overseeing the funds established by Wealthsimple Investments Inc as an Investment Fund Manager.
  • Collaborate directly with Asset Management, Compliance, Product, Trading, Tax, and R&D teams to ensure efficient Fund Operations processes that adhere to industry standards.
  • Establish funds from an operational standpoint, coordinating fund administration, custody arrangements, transfer agent agreements, sub-advisor documentation, and onboarding to Fundserv.
  • Consult with legal partners to review and negotiate contracts with Fund Administrators and Custodians.
  • Advise on the most effective and sustainable methods for setting up Private Funds and Fund of Funds.
  • Work alongside legal and Asset Management teams on Offering Memorandums and Green Sheets.
  • Utilize data analytics to identify inefficiencies and propose actionable solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in fund management or fund administration.
  • Expertise in collaborating with middle office and tax teams to develop policies and procedures for the Fund.
  • Proven subject matter expertise in fund creation and administration, with experience working with custodians, transfer agents, and sub-advisors.
  • In-depth knowledge of Fundserv from both fund manufacturing and dealer perspectives.
  • Experience in establishing Private Funds and Fund of Funds, with familiarity in various liquidity measures.
  • Background in producing Offering Memorandums and Green Sheets.
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail, capable of managing large datasets under tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in Excel and familiar with Google Suite.
  • Critical thinker who challenges the status quo and seeks to optimize processes and elevate the performance of the business and colleagues.
  • Familiarity with SQL is a plus.
