We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced academic leader to join our Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Ottawa. As a key member of our faculty, you will play a critical role in driving innovation and excellence in teaching and research.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage a team of faculty members, promoting a culture of collaboration and excellence in teaching and research.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to drive innovation and growth in the department, aligning with the university's mission and goals.
- Foster strong relationships with industry partners, government agencies, and other stakeholders to secure funding and resources for research and academic programs.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior faculty members, supporting their professional development and career advancement.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, applying knowledge to improve teaching methods, curriculum design, and research initiatives.
- Collaborate with other departments and units to promote interdisciplinary research and academic programs.
- Develop and manage budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources to support departmental goals and objectives.
- Represent the department and university at national and international conferences, promoting the institution's reputation and expertise.
- Participate in university-wide committees and working groups, contributing to policy development and decision-making processes.
- Engage in ongoing professional development, staying current with best practices in academic leadership, teaching, and research.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in academic leadership, including faculty management and strategic planning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
- A strong track record of research and academic achievement, with a demonstrated ability to secure funding and resources.
- Experience with budget management and financial planning.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, with a focus on collaboration and mutual support.
