Police Communications Specialist

Job Summary:

The City of Red Deer is seeking a highly skilled Police Communications Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our public safety team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the efficient handling of incoming calls and requests for service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and accurate responses to incoming calls and requests for service, utilizing relevant police databases and communication devices.
  • Triage requests for service to determine the appropriate follow-up or action required, ensuring the safety of Municipal Enforcement Officers and the public.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, utilizing software and communication devices as required.
  • Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure seamless communication and service delivery.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date on best practices and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of direct related experience in a police communications environment, or three years of related experience in emergency communications.
  • National RCMP Telecommunications Operator Course or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass RCMP Security Clearance prior to employment and maintain clearance throughout employment.
  • Ability to type 50wpm accurately.
  • Ability to satisfactorily complete tested courses in RCMP PROS User Course, RCMP CPIC Maintenance Course, RCMP Records Information Manager Course, and National Telecommunications Operator Course.
  • Ability to work shift work, including evenings and weekends.

Working Conditions:

Hours of work will be as scheduled, with no guarantee. Shifts will be scheduled Monday to Sunday between the hours of 6:45 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., including Statutory Holidays.
