Job Summary:

The City of Red Deer is seeking a highly skilled Police Communications Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our public safety team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the efficient handling of emergency and non-emergency calls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and accurate responses to emergency and non-emergency calls, utilizing police databases and communication devices.
  • Triage requests for service to determine the appropriate follow-up or action required.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, ensuring compliance with police regulations and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Municipal Enforcement Officers to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date on police procedures and technologies.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple calls simultaneously.
  • Meet the requirements for RCMP Security Clearance and maintain it throughout employment.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of direct experience in a police communications environment or related field.
  • National RCMP Telecommunications Operator Course or equivalent.
  • Ability to type 50wpm accurately.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work shift work, including evenings and weekends.

Working Conditions:

Hours of work will be as scheduled, with no guarantee. Shifts will be scheduled Monday to Sunday between 6:45 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., including statutory holidays.

Benefits:

The City of Red Deer offers a competitive hourly rate of $32.66 to $34.58 per hour, as well as opportunities for professional growth and development.
