Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Business Communications Lead to join our team at Vancouver Arena LP - Arena FT. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive business communications strategy that aligns with our marketing and brand objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a business communications strategy that supports our marketing and brand initiatives
  • Collaborate with our President to manage broadcast partner relationships and ensure seamless execution of local broadcasts for TV and radio
  • Work closely with our Sportsnet team to manage all local broadcast operations and ensure exceptional entertainment for our fans
  • Partner with our SVP, Marketing to implement business messaging and branding internally and throughout the community
  • Identify and pursue team and player strategies with broadcast, website, and media outlets
  • Develop and manage the overall budget for the Communications department
  • Build and maintain relationships with the National Hockey League, American Hockey League, and National Lacrosse League
  • Work closely with our CSE Ownership and Leadership Teams on initiatives that impact our strategic objectives
  • Act as a spokesperson for company media requests as needed
  • Contribute to the strategic planning process as a member of our Leadership Team

Requirements:

  • University degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in communications and media relations, with several years of related industry experience
  • Strong understanding of and experience using various forms of media (print, TV, radio, internet)
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop employees
  • Excellent listening skills and intellectual ability
  • High level of personal integrity and ability to prioritize the organization's interests
  • Sound knowledge of NHL hockey and NLL Lacrosse
  • Creative and strategic thinker with initiative
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Superior planning, organizational, and administrative skills
  • Able to handle conflicting deadlines and prioritize tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
