Role Summary

The Commercial Portfolio Management Specialist is responsible for credit structuring, underwriting, risk assessment, and client support for a diverse portfolio of clients with average loan amounts below $2MM, within a designated geographic area. This individual contributor role collaborates with sales and support teams to provide effective solutions by analyzing and developing economic overviews, industry assessments, and evaluating the financial viability of loan candidates, serving as the primary contact for clients.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Underwriting, Risk Management, Client Engagement.

Credit Underwriting: In this capacity, you will work alongside sales teams to ensure timely and effective credit underwriting for both new and existing clients. You will manage risks and maintain daily client relationships for medium to large commercial accounts, directly supporting the sales team in crafting innovative, competitive, and comprehensive client solutions by leveraging internal resources and specialists as needed.

Risk Management: You will utilize your risk management expertise to implement appropriate measures and protocols, balancing risk and reward in accordance with CWB's risk appetite. Proactively manage risk through prudent lending recommendations, including consistent monitoring and due diligence to minimize operational losses.

Client Engagement: Serve as the main point of contact for daily client interactions, handling operations, account management, and inquiries while providing consistent support to the deal team to ensure an exceptional client experience.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will possess a diploma in Business Administration or a related field (or equivalent experience) along with approximately two years of hands-on experience in banking or business lending, including direct commercial credit underwriting. You should be comfortable with financial statement analysis and have a solid understanding of financial analysis tools. Your strong work ethic, collaborative spirit, growth mindset, and drive will be key to your success, distinguishing you from your peers.
