Job Summary

The Kativik Municipal Housing Bureau is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Technician to join our Client Services team. As a Legal Technician, you will play a critical role in providing administrative support to our Housing Managers and ensuring the smooth operation of our client services department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcoming tenants, applicants, and visitors, providing information and assistance as needed.
  • Gathering information and creating subleases and leases.
  • Issuing work orders and following up with maintenance staff as needed.
  • Analyzing data related to tenants and rent arrears, preparing lists and reports.
  • Preparing demands for the Quebec Rental Board.
  • Following up on Quebec Rental Board decisions, both within and outside the NHB.
  • Working closely with the Community Relations Officer, Housing Managers, and Assistant or Director of Client Services to plan eviction processes.
  • Assisting the Communication Officer in using the right communication tools.
  • Planning and executing eviction processes.
  • Drafting and preparing letters, notices, and public announcements related to visits to tenants' homes.
  • Sending out correspondence as needed and ensuring timely responses.
  • Contacting Housing Managers to inform them of renovation projects, inspections, etc.
  • Sending out lease renewal notices and other correspondence as needed.
  • Meeting with the Assistant or Director of Client Services and other departments as needed.
  • Assisting the Client Services department with other tasks as requested.

Requirements

  • Secondary V diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Reliability, punctuality, flexibility, organization, positivity, and confidence.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with strong oral and written communication.
  • Ability to be a member of a dynamic team.
  • Participation in setting up departmental initiatives.
  • Proficiency in 2 or 3 languages (Inuktitut, English, and/or French).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Willingness to travel.
