We are seeking a skilled and experienced Carpenter to join our team at UNIFOR CONSTRUCTION INC. as a key member of our construction team.
Key Responsibilities- Pre-Construction
- Develop and implement construction plans and layouts in accordance with building codes and regulations.
- Conduct site surveys and measurements to ensure accurate construction.
- Construction
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join various materials, including wood, wood substitutes, and lightweight steel.
- Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
- Fabricate and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware.
- Project Management
- Estimate costs and materials for construction projects.
- Coordinate and schedule work on construction sites.
- Supervise and instruct apprentices and other workers as needed.
- Maintenance and Repair
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on residential and commercial properties.
- Renovate and restore wooden structures in various settings, including mills, mines, hospitals, and industrial plants.
- Communication and Teamwork
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve project goals and objectives.
- 1-2 years of experience in carpentry or a related field.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in carpentry or a related field an asset.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor and lift heavy materials.
