About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Carpenter to join our team at UNIFOR CONSTRUCTION INC. as a key member of our construction team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Construction
    • Develop and implement construction plans and layouts in accordance with building codes and regulations.
    • Conduct site surveys and measurements to ensure accurate construction.
  • Construction
    • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join various materials, including wood, wood substitutes, and lightweight steel.
    • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
    • Fabricate and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware.
  • Project Management
    • Estimate costs and materials for construction projects.
    • Coordinate and schedule work on construction sites.
    • Supervise and instruct apprentices and other workers as needed.
  • Maintenance and Repair
    • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on residential and commercial properties.
    • Renovate and restore wooden structures in various settings, including mills, mines, hospitals, and industrial plants.
  • Communication and Teamwork
    • Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with team members to achieve project goals and objectives.
    Requirements
    • 1-2 years of experience in carpentry or a related field.
    • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in carpentry or a related field an asset.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
    • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
    • Physical stamina to perform manual labor and lift heavy materials.
