Your Role

The Senior Manager, Product Strategy will play a pivotal role in supporting the Senior Director of Product Strategy & Customer Experience. This position involves close collaboration with Marketing and Product teams, as well as the Senior Vice-President and Group Head of Personal Banking, on various strategic initiatives. Responsibilities will encompass identifying and evaluating new opportunities, strategic planning, internal consulting, research, reporting, data analysis, and supporting strategic initiatives. Projects typically involve cross-functional teams and contribute to the company's overall strategy, aiding senior executive and Board-level decision-making. The incumbent will leverage analytical skills to provide both qualitative and quantitative insights that inform recommendations for Senior Management. Additionally, the Senior Manager will act as the business lead for specific projects, managing internal stakeholders, including senior leaders, to ensure successful execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute product strategies
  • Lead the formulation of the product strategy for Retail and Small Business Banking, including quantitative analysis for forecasts
  • Facilitate critical thinking and prepare materials for key strategy discussions
  • Present insights and recommendations based on data analysis and key findings
  • Drive project execution by managing internal stakeholders and developing deliverables
  • Oversee the implementation of select strategic initiatives
  • Utilize a 'build, measure, learn' approach to deploy new tactics
  • Develop team expertise across the Retail and Small Business Banking product range
  • Enhance the value proposition and unique selling points of deposit products
  • Analyze implications of changes to core fee structures and product incentives
  • Assess new ideas and develop business cases
  • Lead initial sizing and validation efforts for new product domains
  • Utilize a prioritization framework to evaluate ideas
  • Collaborate with the Customer Experience team to ensure new ideas address customer needs
  • Work with the data/analytics team to leverage internal data for assessments
  • Partner with product/engineering teams to evaluate implementation complexities
  • Assist the Senior Director of Product Strategy in prioritizing 'Big Bet' products
  • Manage competitive interest rate benchmarking for Chequing, HISA, and GIC products
  • Make recommendations for interest rate adjustments based on competitive dynamics
  • Conduct competitive benchmarking and analysis for Retail and Small Business Banking
  • Establish a system to monitor and communicate changes in value propositions and pricing
  • Research international markets for innovative ideas and best practices

About You

  • 7+ years of relevant experience, ideally with a minimum of 5 years in Financial Services Product Management, Management Consulting, or Strategy
  • MBA preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Strong business acumen with an understanding of the operational constraints of regulated financial institutions
  • Familiarity with trends in financial services, particularly in digital banking and payments
  • Expertise in building and analyzing Excel-based business scenarios
  • 5+ years of experience in synthesizing analyses and preparing presentations for senior executives
  • Confidence and maturity in managing internal and external stakeholders
  • Potential for future people leadership responsibilities, with a desire to lead
  • Previous leadership experience is advantageous but not required
  • Ability to work collaboratively while influencing strategic direction
