Critical Care Registered Nurse

The Registered Nurse (RN) will report directly to the managers of the Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Intervention Unit, and Cardiac Care Unit. This role is essential in delivering exceptional patient care, adhering to the philosophy, policies, and standards set forth by the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH), the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), and all applicable legislation. This position specifically involves floating between ICU and CCU departments.

Must hold a current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Nurses. A Critical Care Certificate is required or a commitment to obtain it within one year of employment. Completion of Coronary Care I & II is mandatory. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is essential. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is required. Certification in Cardiovascular Nursing (CNCC(C)) is preferred. Essential postgraduate courses in Cardiology, Respiratory, and Physical Assessment. Candidates must successfully complete a screening arrhythmia quiz with a minimum score of 80% to proceed to the interview stage.Experience Requirements:
A minimum of current nursing experience in an Adult ICU/CCU setting is required. Experience with Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps is preferred. A strong foundation in cardiovascular physiology, electrocardiography, and rhythm interpretation is advantageous. Familiarity with aortic hemodynamic monitoring is preferred. Recent experience in caring for acute Post Angiogram/Angioplasty patients is preferred. Experience in Radial and Groin Sheath Management is preferred.Key Competencies:

Must be capable of fulfilling all physical demands associated with patient care in the ICU/CCU.All applicants must possess a minimum educational requirement of Grade 12 or equivalent and demonstrate a proven track record of workplace excellence through strong job performance and attendance.
As a Regional Health Centre, our operations run 24/7 to provide necessary patient care. Therefore, applicants should be prepared to work weekdays, weekends, and all shifts, including days, evenings, and nights.
