Job Summary:
The Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Intensive Care, Cardiac Intervention Unit & Cardiac Care Unit team as a Critical Care Float Registered Nurse. This is a critical care float position specifically for ICU and CCU.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality patient care within a delivery model in accordance with the philosophy, policies, and standards of care of the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH), the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), and all relevant legislation.
- Work collaboratively with the interprofessional team to ensure seamless patient care.
- Develop and implement individualized patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Conduct thorough assessments, identify patient needs, and prioritize care accordingly.
- Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed by physicians and in accordance with established protocols.
- Monitor patient vital signs, track progress, and report any changes or concerns to the healthcare team.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure effective communication and coordination of patient care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest evidence-based practices and guidelines in critical care nursing.
Requirements:
- Current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Nurses.
- Critical Care Certificate required or willingness to complete within one year of hire.
- Coronary Care I & II required.
- Current BCLS required.
- Current ACLS is required.
- CNCC(C) preferred.
- Post graduate courses in Cardiology, Respiratory, and Physical Assessment are essential.
- Must pass a screening arrhythmia quiz obtaining an 80% to move onto interview phase.
- Current nursing experience in an Adult ICU/CCU required.
- Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump experience preferred.
- Strong background in cardiovascular physiology, electrocardiography, and rhythm interpretation an asset.
- Experience with aortic hemodynamic monitoring is preferred.
- Recent experience in the care of the acute Post Angiogram/Angioplasty patient preferred.
- Radial and Groin Sheath Management experience preferred.
