Reporting to the managers of the Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Intervention Unit, and Cardiac Care Unit, the Registered Nurse (RN) serves as a vital caregiver responsible for delivering exceptional patient care in alignment with the philosophy, policies, and standards of the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH), the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), and all applicable legislation. This role is specifically designated as a float position for the ICU and CCU.
Employment Opportunities:
Positions Available: Full-Time and Part-Time
Educational Requirements:
- Current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Nurses.
- Critical Care Certificate is mandatory or a commitment to complete it within one year of employment.
- Completion of Coronary Care I & II is required.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is essential.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is required.
- Certification in CNCC(C) is preferred.
- Essential postgraduate courses in Cardiology, Respiratory, and Physical Assessment.
- Candidates must successfully pass a screening arrhythmia quiz with a minimum score of 80% to proceed to the interview stage.
Professional Experience:
- Required current nursing experience in an Adult ICU/CCU setting.
- Preferred experience with Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps.
- A strong foundation in cardiovascular physiology, electrocardiography, and rhythm interpretation is advantageous.
- Experience with aortic hemodynamic monitoring is preferred.
- Recent experience caring for acute Post Angiogram/Angioplasty patients is desirable.
- Experience in Radial and Groin Sheath Management is preferred.

- Must be capable of fulfilling all physical demands associated with patient care in the ICU/CCU.
All applicants must possess a minimum educational requirement of Grade 12 or equivalent and demonstrate proven workplace excellence through a commitment to strong job performance and attendance.
As a Regional Health Centre, our operations run 24/7 to provide necessary patient care. Therefore, depending on the program, availability for weekdays, weekends, and all shifts (days, evenings, and nights) may be expected.
