Position Overview

Canada Life is seeking a seasoned Platform Engineering Leader to join our team in a permanent full-time capacity. This role, titled Sr DevOps Engineering Specialist Lead, is ideal for a technology expert passionate about tackling complex challenges. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing the reliability, stability, and performance of our systems while leading initiatives in Platform Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams across business and IT to meet project objectives.
  • Identify and address areas for improvement in processes, risk management, security, and system resiliency.
  • Oversee projects from inception to completion.
  • Influence and guide teams through effective leadership.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and share findings with the organization.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance application resilience.
  • Serve as a mentor and advocate for Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
  • Promote and lead the expansion of application ecosystem instrumentation for proactive monitoring.
  • Identify and address architectural issues that may affect system stability and resilience.
Qualifications
  • Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant certifications in Agile, Project Management, Cloud, DevOps, or SRE.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Strong enthusiasm and a proactive approach.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Commitment to improving the Canada Life experience.
  • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with Scrum, Agile, Kanban, or similar methodologies.
  • Strong sense of accountability and a focus on delivering quality solutions.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex issues.
  • Comprehensive understanding of technology platforms, including on-premises and cloud environments, operating systems, software development, system performance, and networking.
  • Passion for continuous learning and coaching others.
  • Excellent communication skills and empathy to complement technical expertise.
  • Adept at leading and collaborating with diverse teams.
