About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Student Estimator. As a key member of our estimating team, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of detailed cost estimates, conducting take-offs from project drawings, and developing material and labor quantity estimates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to gain an understanding of project scope and requirements.
  • Conduct take-offs from project drawings and develop material and labor quantity estimates.
  • Utilize estimating software and tools to prepare detailed cost estimates, including labor, materials, subcontractor quotes, and other project costs.
  • Assist in the preparation of bid proposals, including organizing and compiling all relevant estimating information.
  • Collaborate with senior estimators and project managers to review and analyze bids and proposals for accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating cost databases, historical data, and estimating resources to ensure accuracy and consistency in estimating practices.
  • Support the estimating team in tracking and reporting on project bids, opportunities, and market trends.
  • Participate in departmental and project meetings to provide input and support on estimating-related matters.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, construction technologies, and best practices in estimating.
Requirements
  • You are currently enrolled in a relevant degree program such as Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent program.
  • You will complete at least one more semester of education following your internship and possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Ability to lead and operate within an environment where change happens frequently.
  • Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships.

  • Sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals.

  • Residency, or a valid work permit which would allow you to work for Bird Construction or one of our wholly owned subsidiaries.
  • If you are selected for a role with client specific requirements, you may be required to successfully complete a pre-employment Medical and/or Alcohol & Drug testing.
