Project and Financial Analyst
NorQuest College is seeking a highly skilled Project and Financial Analyst to join our Faculty of Arts and Sciences team. As a key member of our Business Operations team, you will play a critical role in supporting the efficient and effective management of projects, procurement, and financial operations within the faculty.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing financial, contract, and grant management support to ensure compliance with NQC and partner standards;
- Leading project management of key large projects, including grant/proposal development, finances, monitoring, and reporting;
- Providing timely, accurate, and effective advice to leadership on divisional budget preparation and maintenance, including expenses, revenue, costing, forecasting, invoicing, procurement requisitions, and time-sheet submissions;
- Supporting the creation of the division's annual budget and providing oversight on divisional budgets;
- Leading financial analysis, including preparing cash flow forecasts, updating monthly planned data with actual activities and expenditures, and providing feedback to the Leadership Team;
- Preparing analysis of expenditure trends, creating forecasts, and reviewing them for accuracy and completeness;
- Understanding the budgetary impacts of new initiatives, enrollment changes, staff changes, and implementing approved changes;
- Identifying program/contract cost pressures and providing recommendations for cost containment/mitigation strategies;
- Managing divisional procurement and requisitioning, reviewing for account accuracy, available funding, and departmental needs;
- Coordinating FOAS projects, including grant/proposal development, finances, monitoring, and reporting;
- Participating in business planning and setting operational goals/measures for division and unit staff;
- Creating budgets for Requests For Proposals, new program development;
- Liaising with external funders on contract requirements;
- Establishing contract and agreement monitoring through the development process.
Requirements
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with CPA considered an asset;
- 3 to 5 years directly related experience in a post-secondary environment, financial services, project management, or information management environment;
- Strong leadership with proven decision-making abilities;
- Experience in a post-secondary institution preferred;
- Knowledge of policies and procedures related to human resource, operations, data, and financial management;
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Understanding of financial principles with a strong aptitude with numbers and software, with experience in working with PeopleSoft data (Financial, HR, Student), and Microsoft Suite (including MS 365, Excel, Teams, BI) an asset;
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate plans, direction, and delegation in a logical and sequential manner, and communicate and summarize complex financial information for key stakeholders;
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact collaboratively and productively with external funders, clients, diverse faculty, and staff.
