Position Overview:

The Project Controls Analyst role is essential for overseeing the execution of project tasks, including financial oversight, budget administration, project oversight, and periodic reporting. As part of the Bridges, Highways and Roads (BHR West) division, you will have the chance to leverage your academic background and practical experience across a variety of projects with differing levels of complexity. You will engage in multiple projects, collaborate across functions, and participate in training opportunities. With a diverse range of responsibilities, you will develop skills in prioritization and time management to meet stringent deadlines. Through mentorship and skill enhancement, you will accelerate your professional growth to become a proficient project control analyst, with the potential to achieve a PMP certification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Project Controls support to various project delivery teams across multiple initiatives;
  • Prepare, verify, and assess the accuracy of both internal and external project documentation;
  • Maintain an accurate and current project budget along with performance indicators;
  • Oversee subconsultants, including managing proposals, contracts, invoices, timelines, and deliverables;
  • Assess current project conditions to ensure precise forecasts and comprehensive cost category inclusion;
  • Establish controls to guarantee adherence to client and corporate protocols, actively participating in continuous improvement efforts;
  • Assist in developing baseline budgets and work breakdown structures to effectively manage hours and expenditures;
  • Manage the change process, including drafting change orders and keeping change logs updated;
  • Formulate, track, and monitor budgets while providing regular forecasts;
  • Proactively identify potential discrepancies;
  • Coordinate with the Finance team, ensuring clear communication for accurate budget maintenance and timely invoicing;
  • Review project outputs to confirm all requirements are met;
  • Participate in internal and client meetings as necessary, maintaining open lines of communication with clients and project teams;
  • Prepare comprehensive project plans, including work breakdown structures, scheduling, cost plans, quality plans, and change management strategies;
  • Analyze and comprehend contract documents and agreements to identify tasks or client requests that fall within or outside the defined scope;
  • Collaborate with a national team across various time zones;
  • Exhibit adaptability and flexibility, managing deadlines and changes while handling multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in project management, finance, or business is preferred;
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in cost management;
  • Prior experience in the engineering or construction sector is advantageous;
  • Ability to adapt and remain flexible under deadline pressure, ambiguity, and change;
  • Proficient in multitasking, managing several projects or tasks concurrently, and organizing priorities;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, as the role necessitates ongoing interaction with team members;
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) is beneficial;
  • Strong computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office suite and Outlook;
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and/or MS Project are considered an asset.
