Position Overview:

The Maintenance Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the upkeep of both underground and surface equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and safety. This includes a variety of machinery and systems such as:


• Lifting Devices


• Transport Systems


• Vertical Shafts


• Crushing Equipment


• Rock Breaking Tools


• Material Handling Systems


• Pumping Units


• Air Compression Systems


• Fuel Storage Areas


• Overhead Lifting Cranes


• Emergency Response Systems


• Facility Maintenance


• Climate Control Systems


• Welding Operations

Key Responsibilities: Ensure adherence to all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations, promoting a culture of safety among all personnel. Review and enhance accident prevention measures, recommending improvements to current practices. Promptly report and investigate any hazards, implementing corrective actions as necessary. Provide a safe working environment through effective training and communication regarding operational procedures and personal protective equipment. Complete all required safety documentation, including accident reports and safety audits, and submit them to the appropriate departments. Conduct regular safety meetings to disseminate information and address employee concerns. Collaborate with underground supervisors to develop production plans, ensuring resource availability. Organize necessary resources, including personnel and equipment, to meet production targets efficiently. Maintain an adequate supply of materials to support productivity. Follow and implement maintenance and production plans effectively. Administer maintenance schedules to optimize resource utilization. Perform inspections to ensure work quality and compliance with company standards. Suggest improvements to enhance production methods and equipment efficiency. Ensure seamless communication of completed work to subsequent shifts. Uphold all company policies and procedures consistently. Anticipate operational challenges and develop solutions proactively. Apply appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary. Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team. Develop and implement a training plan to ensure all staff receive necessary training. Assess staffing needs and post job openings as required. Maintain effective relationships between the maintenance department and other operational units. Communicate with management and other departments to address operational issues and recommend improvements. Participate in planning meetings to align on operational goals. Provide timely feedback to team members and management. Required Qualifications: At least 10 years of relevant trade experience, with a preference for candidates holding a Trades Ticket. Supervisory experience is preferred. U/G Common Core certification is an asset. Valid driver's license is required. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Commitment to Barrick's core values. Ability to work safely in an underground mining environment is essential. Proven track record of good attendance and performance.
