Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Scientist to join our team at Magic Bio. As a key member of our research and development team, you will play a critical role in driving the discovery and development of new products using engineered microorganisms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Experimental Design and Execution: Develop and execute experimental designs for the production and purification of natural products, including the creation of workflows for production and purification.
  • Fermentation Operations: Operate fermentation equipment, including culturing of seed cultures, maintaining frozen stocks, bioreactor turnover, and media preparation.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare white papers, technical documents, and basic modeling of biological systems for productivity and cost projections.
  • Lab Setup and Management: Establish and maintain a safe and efficient laboratory environment, including permitting, equipment purchasing, and safety considerations.
Requirements
  • Education: M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biological Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Molecular Biology, Synthetic Biology, Cellular Agriculture, Metabolic Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Proven experience in bioprocess, fermentation, cloning, genome editing, and purification of metabolites from microbial cultures.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of fermentation technology, microbial physiology, and bioprocess engineering.
  • Personal Qualities: Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
