Position Overview

Are you passionate about enhancing the lives of at-risk individuals in Alberta? Do you excel in a collaborative and engaging work setting? The Government of Alberta is currently in search of Public Guardian Representatives for the Calgary and Lethbridge regions. Our dedicated team of professionals is focused on making informed decisions on behalf of represented adults while delivering comprehensive case management services for a designated caseload.

As a Public Guardian Representative, your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating effectively within a team environment.
  • Coordinating and engaging in case discussions to involve clients, keep families and other stakeholders updated, and create avenues for clients to contribute meaningfully to their plans.
  • Proficiently negotiating case management strategies and evaluating appropriate community resources to support clients with intricate needs.
  • Adapting to a flexible work schedule, which may include occasional public presentations and meetings during evenings and weekends.
  • Participating in an on-call/after-hours rotation, which occurs approximately once a year.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Exceptional collaboration and negotiation abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as interaction with healthcare professionals is a daily aspect of this role.
  • Proficient interviewing and assessment capabilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving, mediation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Confidence in public speaking and delivering presentations.
  • Strong research and advocacy competencies.
