Program OverviewThe Calgary Alternative Poss-Abilities (CAPA) program employs a strengths-based, client-centered approach to service delivery. Role SummaryThe Community Support Specialist III (CSW3) plays a crucial role in the services provided by Calgary Alternative Support Services Inc. (CASS). This position is dedicated to empowering clients with complex needs, enabling them to make informed decisions and integrate into their communities while ensuring stability in their daily activities.
The CSW3 is tasked with establishing professional boundaries with clients, offering guidance on emotional support, daily living skills, and connecting with community resources in alignment with their Individual Support Plan (ISP). Additionally, the CSW3 ensures that program content and delivery adhere to high ethical standards and the agency's Mission, Vision, and Mandate.
Key ResponsibilitiesClient Support- Foster respectful and professional relationships with clients;
- Assist clients in developing and tracking goals outlined in their Individual Support Plan (ISP);
- Support individuals in enhancing their independence within the community, including daily living skills and health management;
- Maintain positive working relationships with client guardians and other support networks.
- Comply with CASS Policies & Procedures and program-specific expectations;
- Check email communications at the start of each shift;
- Complete necessary documentation in a timely manner, including timesheets and incident reports;
- Engage actively in the CASS Health & Safety program and adhere to relevant policies;
- Maintain current certifications in all required training.
- Exemplify CASS values in all interactions;
- Collaborate respectfully with all stakeholders;
- Be open to giving and receiving constructive feedback.
Community Support Coordinators: Responsible for service development and staffing oversight, ensuring high-quality client services.
Guardians: Individuals appointed to protect and assist vulnerable adults in decision-making processes.
Support Network: A group of personal and professional individuals engaged in supporting the client.Essential Skills and Knowledge
- Ability to maintain confidentiality;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Positive approach to problem-solving;
- Adaptability in communication styles;
- Patience and understanding;
- Preferred knowledge in supporting adults with developmental disabilities.
- Post-secondary education in Human Services;
- Current certification in Emergency or Standard First Aid, including CPR/AED;
- A satisfactory police information check with a vulnerable sectors search.
- A vehicle and valid driver's license are necessary.
