Job Title: Data Management Director

Job Summary:

The Data Management Director will play a key role in driving business growth and profitability at Capital Foodservice by leading the procurement function and developing strategic category plans. This individual will work closely with Sales and Marketing teams to identify opportunities for vendor revenue growth and category development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement category plans that meet business objectives and drive revenue growth;
  • Lead vendor negotiations and manage vendor relationships to ensure optimal pricing and terms;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction;
  • Provide data-driven insights to inform business decisions and drive strategic initiatives;
  • Manage and develop a team of procurement professionals to ensure effective execution of procurement strategies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field;
  • At least 5-7 years of experience in procurement, category management, or supply chain management;
  • Proven track record of driving business growth and profitability through strategic category planning and vendor management.

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders;

  • Seeks guidance from senior leadership when necessary on issues related to procurement practices and processes;
  • Influences decisions regarding key vendor relationships and category development strategies.

Key Relationships:

KEY EXTERNAL CONTACTS: Suppliers, distributor buying groups, and Multi-unit and independent customers;

KEY INTERNAL CONTACTS: Senior Leadership Team, Sales and Warehouse Leadership;

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Category Managers, Product Specialists, and Administrative staff

Organizational Impact and Challenges:

  • Leading in a matrix organization where it is imperative that functional teams and leaders and Branch executives understand and appreciate the reason for and value of the initiatives and practices being introduced;
  • Influencing and motivating leaders and teams that have no direct reporting relationship to this role;
  • Managing change effectively to ensure minimal disruption to business operations and positive impact to operational successes.

Unique Requirements:

  • Will be expected to travel to meet with vendors as required;
  • Must have valid driver's license and own vehicle which can be used for business purposes as required.
