Job Summary

This position ensures that CN meets the needs of customers by delivering essential data that enables informed decision-making about railcar inventory management. Additionally, the TRR is responsible for identifying reporting violations and escalating them to resolve long-term issues. As the first point of contact with Operational counterparts, the TRR must protect and ensure effective communication regarding customer service experiences. Furthermore, this role requires close collaboration with the Service Delivery team and other internal stakeholders to develop productive relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize sophisticated computer systems to provide accurate and timely reporting of train or railcar movements.
  • Provide work orders and movement instructions for train crews and other Operational personnel, as well as prepare information for ancillary tasks.
  • Work with Service Delivery to protect service, as required.
  • Communicate with internal parties regarding reporting issues, service exceptions, and special requests.
  • Update various logs, forms, or systems as necessary.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
Working Conditions

This role operates in a standard office environment with shift work requirements, including day, afternoon, night, and overnight shifts, as well as weekends and holidays on rotation. The TRR may be required to work on an on-call schedule, with shift assignments based on seniority. The work environment is fast-paced and demanding, with multiple time constraints, simultaneous activities, and high accountability to internal stakeholders. Prolonged sitting and standing at a desk, typing, and looking at multiple computer monitors are common. Some physical exertion may be required.

Requirements
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a professional or customer-orientated environment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent verbal communication, reading comprehension, and writing skills in English (and French).
  • Strong typing skills and accuracy, including previous experience working with Microsoft Office tools or other related software.
  • Strong knowledge of navigating operating systems, email, and internet proficiency.
  • Highly organized and proactive with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Display ethical behavior and strict adherence to courtesy, honesty, and responsibility.
  • Proven ability to analyze data, identify trends, and effectively communicate findings to increase reporting accuracy, timeliness, and procedural efficiencies.
  • Good working knowledge of North American geography.
Training

Once onboarded, new TRR hires complete classroom training with leaders covering CN's rules, policies, procedures, and safety measures. TRRs receive in-depth training on our tools and systems to ensure success in their role. This is followed by a 6-week on-the-job practical training. During the first 3 months, TRRs have rotating 1:1 mentorship and training with the team to provide regular coaching, guidance, and support.
