Position Summary

The Financial Reporting Specialist oversees all financial reporting activities for Health, Training, and Pension Trust Funds, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations. They maintain financial records, conduct audits, and prepare financial statements for Trust Funds.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive financial reporting and bookkeeping tasks.
  • Ensure accurate reconciliation of bank and general ledger accounts.
  • Monitor bank account balances and calculate available funds.
  • Transfer funds to investment managers.
  • Prepare premium statements and remittances.
  • Manage accounts receivable and cash receipt posting.
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of investment reports.
  • Make month-end journal entries.
  • Prepare financial reports and statements.
  • Handle pension payment transfers.
  • Provide tax information for remittances.
  • Collect employer contributions.
  • Investigate discrepancies and resolve issues.
  • Prepare audit files and address auditor inquiries.
  • Assist other department staff as needed.

Requirements

  • College diploma or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • Minimum two years of financial accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting software and principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong communication skills.
