Recreational Programs Manager

Welcome to Southbridge Care Homes, a leading provider of long-term care services in Southwestern Ontario. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Recreational Programs Manager to join our team at our Pickering, Ontario location.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, organize, direct, and supervise the department's programs and staff, ensuring a high level of quality and resident satisfaction.
  • Implement and evaluate programs related to the five P.I.E.S.S domains, ensuring alignment with our organization's goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate therapeutic program development and delivery in collaboration with other departments, promoting a holistic approach to care.
  • Assess departmental needs and develop action plans to address them, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Complete scheduling and payroll tasks, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Recruit, coach, mentor, and supervise departmental and program staff, fostering a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Develop departmental goals and objectives, aligning with our organization's strategic plan.
  • Actively participate in program delivery, ensuring a high level of resident engagement and satisfaction.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor programming budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility.
  • Create and update Resident Health Care Records, as required, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Coordinate the completion of MDS assessments, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Act as Education Lead, promoting ongoing learning and development within the department.
  • Participate in IDTCs, PACCs, and QIP meetings, ensuring collaboration and communication with other departments.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or a related field from a community college or university.
  • Knowledge of restorative care, holistic care, activation, and dementia care concepts.
  • Minimum one year of supervisory experience, preferably in a long-term care setting.
  • Experience in planning, developing, and evaluating individual and group programming for frail, elderly residents using an interdisciplinary approach.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, with a command of English and French language.
  • Ability to work independently and complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of community resources, program development, and MOHLTC standards.
  • Previous supervisory experience in long-term care an asset.
  • At least one year of experience with seniors in an organized program or one year of experience with persons in a healthcare setting required.
  • Experience or knowledge in recruitment, selection, orientation, placement, and supervision of volunteers required.
  • Sufficient knowledge and experience to coordinate religious services and spiritual care in a multi-faith setting required.
