Job Title: Freelance English Language Instructor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Freelance English Language Instructor to join our team at the British Council. As a Freelance English Language Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality English language lessons to students of various ages and levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver English language lessons to students of various ages and levels
  • Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to help manage their performance
  • Contribute to the development, evaluation, and improvement of English language courses and materials
  • Complete teaching-related administrative tasks to specified standards
  • Ensure safeguarding and guidelines are applied and upheld in line with standards and policy

Requirements:

  • First Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field
  • Cambridge CELTA/Trinity Cert TESOL (Core) or PGCE
  • High proficiency in English (CEFR level of C2/ IELTS Band 8+ in each of 4 sections of the academic module)
  • 2 years' post-certificate experience in teaching English as a foreign language
  • Experience in teaching at least two of the relevant age groups: Primary Young Learners (6-11 years old), Secondary Learners (12-17 years old), and Adults General English

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • CELTYL or TYLEC
  • DELTA or Dip TEFL/TESOL (Higher)
  • MA TESOL (or equivalent)
  • Proficient in online delivery using Zoom or similar platforms
  • Experience in teaching Exam Preparation courses (Cambridge and/or IELTS) to both adults and young learners

Working Arrangements:

As a Freelance English Language Instructor, you will be working on a freelance basis, delivering lessons to students of various ages and levels. You will be required to cover the full-term teaching schedule for assigned classes and may be required to deliver lessons online due to the ongoing pandemic and related restrictions.
