About the Role

Family Services of Greater Vancouver is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Indigenous Youth Outreach Worker to join our team. As a key member of our Directions Youth Services division, you will play a vital role in promoting the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness of Indigenous youth in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide outreach services to Indigenous youth at risk of homelessness or experiencing homelessness, connecting them with culturally appropriate resources and services.
  • Develop and implement programming that incorporates Indigenous practices and knowledge, reflecting the needs and interests of Indigenous youth in urban settings.
  • Collaborate with community agencies, government ministries, and knowledge keepers to support the unique needs of Indigenous youth.
  • Work independently and in pairs to respond to emerging needs and crises, prioritizing tasks as they arise.
Requirements
  • Two-year post-secondary course or diploma in social work or youth care, or a related field.
  • Minimum one year of experience working with Indigenous youth.
  • Knowledge of substance use, mental health, and sexual exploitation, as well as the Harm Reduction model.
  • Ability to work effectively with conflict situations, manage aggressive behavior, and use non-violent crisis intervention techniques.
  • Valid Class 5 BC driver's license and successful completion of a criminal record check.
