About this Role

We are seeking an experienced Urban Indigenous Youth Support Specialist to join our team at Directions Youth Services. This role will focus on providing outreach services to Indigenous youth in the community, promoting their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support and education to Indigenous youth in matters related to crisis intervention, harm reduction, conflict resolution, and community resources. They will also develop and implement programming and workshops that incorporate Indigenous practices and knowledges, reflecting the needs and interests of Indigenous youth in urban settings.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with Indigenous youth
  • Knowledge of substance use, mental health, and sexual exploitation; Harm Reduction model
  • Knowledge of community, social, and health resources
  • Physical ability to carry out duties of position (carrying full backpack, walking for 2-5 hours)
