Job Title: Program Manager - Indigenous Youth Arts and Culture

Urban Native Youth Association (UNYA) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Program Manager to lead the Overly Creative Minds (OCM) program, which provides a safe and welcoming space for Indigenous youth to explore arts and culture.

Job Summary:

The Program Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the OCM program, ensuring its success in supporting and empowering Indigenous youth between the ages of 11-24 years old through artistic expression. This role involves building and maintaining relationships with community organizations, partners, and facilitators, overseeing the OCM Youth Care Counsellor and Summer Student, as well as front-line youth work.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop, implement, and oversee the day-to-day operations of the OCM program.
  2. Ensure the program aligns with its mission and goals, providing a safe and inclusive space for Indigenous youth to explore and express themselves through art.
  3. Directly engage with youth, providing leadership, support, mentorship, and crisis intervention to empower them to navigate challenges and build resilience.
  4. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with a wide range of community organizations, partners, and facilitators to enhance program effectiveness and broaden its impact.
  5. Oversee and guide the OCM Youth Care Counsellor within the program, providing coaching, support, and professional development opportunities.
  6. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages creativity, teamwork, and growth.
  7. Develop and manage the program budget, ensuring responsible and efficient use of resources.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, 2+ years of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience developing and delivering diverse arts & culture and/or youth programming.
  • Experience working with the Indigenous community, and engaging and working effectively with a diversity of Indigenous youth.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the family and social issues that Indigenous youth face today, including the generational impacts of the residential school system on families and communities.
  • Strong organizational, and written & oral communications skills.
  • Experience supervising staff and volunteers, and addressing and resolving conflicts that may arise in the workplace.
