Position Overview

As the Vice President of External Affairs for Canada at IDP, you will spearhead initiatives to influence international education policies and regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the region's government relations, communication strategies, sector partnerships, events, and thought leadership for IDP Canada.
  • Formulate and implement comprehensive external relations and government affairs strategies to cultivate relationships with Canadian government entities, policymakers, and regulatory bodies, leveraging these connections to shape policies that align with IDP's mission and growth objectives.
  • Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments in education, technology, immigration, and skills enhancement, identifying opportunities and challenges that may affect IDP's operations.
  • Engage with government representatives to advocate for policies that promote international education, providing insightful analysis and recommendations regarding policy changes.
  • Establish and maintain robust relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies and industry associations, to support IDP's strategic goals, becoming a prominent voice in international education.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team to achieve IDP's strategic objectives.
  • Create contingency plans and manage communications during sensitive situations, ensuring IDP's interests are effectively represented.

Qualifications:

  • A strong background in Canadian government affairs, relations, or public policy advising, with a comprehensive understanding of the political landscape.
  • Expertise in navigating Canadian governmental structures and building relationships with key decision-makers.
  • Experience in advising senior leadership and leading external relations and government communication strategies, aligning these with organizational goals.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of articulating complex issues persuasively to represent IDP's interests.
  • Proven ability to excel in a dynamic environment, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
