Position Overview

Sinai Health is in search of a distinguished leader to fulfill the role of Executive Vice President of Medical and Academic Affairs. This pivotal position reports directly to the President & Chief Executive Officer and is an integral member of the Executive Leadership Team, responsible for steering the organization's strategic planning and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

The EVP Medical will:

  • Provide senior leadership for all credentialed personnel, including Physicians, Dentists, and Midwives, ensuring adherence to the Ontario Public Hospitals Act.
  • Oversee the credentialing process and align professional staff activities with Sinai Health's Mission, Vision, and Values, fostering a culture that embodies the organization's core principles.
  • Ensure professional staff are engaged and aligned with hospital clinical operations, research, and educational initiatives.
  • Maintain and manage professional staff by-laws and the Medical Advisory Committee, reporting to the Board of Directors on staff appointments and overseeing professional practice and policy matters.
  • Establish and implement leadership structures for medical and professional staff to support both clinical practice and academic endeavors, in alignment with Sinai Health's strategic objectives.
  • Supervise Chiefs of Service regarding departmental planning, quality and safety issues, conduct breaches, and disciplinary actions, while ensuring compliance with external reporting requirements.
  • Provide leadership for professional staff wellness, professionalism, and quality performance alongside the Vice President of Medical Affairs.
  • Oversee various internal operational strategies and represent Sinai Health in engagements with key external stakeholders, including academic partners.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A medical degree with a valid license to practice in Ontario.
  • A senior academic appointment or eligibility for Associate or Full Professor status at an affiliated university.
  • Extensive senior leadership experience within large, complex, and highly regulated organizations.
  • A strong understanding of Ontario's healthcare landscape and experience in an academic clinical setting.

This role is crucial for the advancement of Sinai Health's medical and academic portfolio, and the successful candidate will play a significant role in shaping the future of healthcare delivery and education within the organization.
