Role Overview:
In this pivotal role, you will oversee all facets of local tax compliance for our Canadian entities. This encompasses direct corporate taxation, income tax, and indirect tax obligations. You will frequently liaise with tax authorities and external consultants to address complex tax matters. As part of a compact team, we seek a proactive individual who can prioritize tasks, manage efficiently, and gradually assume leadership duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the preparation and presentation of precise and timely financial statements and accounting records in compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
  • Assist in identifying, evaluating, and mitigating financial risks, providing reports on these risks to senior management.
  • Establish and maintain a robust internal control system to protect assets, prevent fraudulent reporting, and ensure the accuracy of financial data, including regular evaluations of internal control effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement current financial policies and procedures to ensure consistent and effective financial practices across the organization.
  • Oversee the selection, implementation, and maintenance of financial systems and software applications, collaborating with IT teams to integrate these systems with other enterprise solutions.
  • Prepare and submit statutory and regulatory reports to relevant authorities, and support other departments in their report preparation and review processes.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies during audits and examinations.
