Position Overview:

The Human Resources Intern will provide essential administrative support and ensure compliance with Human Resources policies and procedures through effective communication and employee engagement.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Currently enrolled in a Co-op program in Human Resources Management or a related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of HR best practices
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with employees, supervisors, and managers to identify and address workplace issues through active participation on the production floor and other employee engagement initiatives.
  • Assist in the coordination of the Martinrea Orientation Model Program for all new employees, including tasks such as creating new hire folders, preparing onboarding materials, evaluating applications, supporting interviews, and completing the new hire checklist.
  • Manage necessary administrative tasks to ensure accurate entry of employee data into HR systems.
  • Facilitate employee onboarding activities, including onboarding plans and job-specific training.
  • Support the maintenance of communication boards.
  • Help update and maintain job descriptions.
  • Assist in organizing employee engagement events and oversee employee committees as needed.
  • Perform general clerical duties such as copying, scanning, and filing documents.
  • Support the Human Resources Department in managing staffing forecasts, interviews, and the hiring process for various employee categories.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant codes and company policies, including health and safety, quality, environmental systems, and HR policies.

Work Environment:

The role primarily involves an office setting (80%), with occasional exposure to the production floor (20%), where noise levels may vary.
