Youth Support Specialist

As a Youth Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in assisting young individuals in navigating personal and social challenges. This permanent position offers a part-time commitment of 8 hours per week and requires a background in College/CEGEP education.
Work EnvironmentYour work will focus on:
- Supporting personal and social adjustment and health
- Addressing socio-economic needs
- Implementing early intervention programs for at-risk youth
- Providing services for individuals experiencing homelessness
This role is based in:
- A rural community
- A youth drop-in center
- A social service or charity organization
- A shelter for the homeless
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing detailed reports and case histories
- Conducting administrative and office tasks
- Evaluating clients' needs for specific services
- Assessing clients' strengths and developmental needs
- Managing housekeeping and food preparation activities
- Providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention support
- Resolving conflicts effectively
- Supervising clients in group homes and halfway houses
- Facilitating individual and group counseling sessions
- Liaising with other social service agencies and healthcare providers
- Maintaining program statistics for evaluation and research purposes
To qualify for this position, candidates should possess:
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
- Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate
- First Aid Certification
This role focuses on serving:
- Adolescents
- Culturally diverse groups
- Individuals from street populations
Successful candidates will undergo:
- A criminal record check
- A Child Abuse Registry check
Candidates should have:
- Access to personal transportation
- Travel expenses covered by the employer
The position requires:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Capacity to perform under pressure
- Physical stamina for demanding tasks
Must be able to handle weights of up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
