About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Youth Health Centre Coordinator to join our team at the Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our Healthy Communities Public Health Team, you will work collaboratively with stakeholders to promote health and well-being among youth.

The successful candidate will provide leadership and support to youth associated with assigned school facilities and their immediate communities. You will champion health equity and facilitate youth engagement as a component of health-promoting schools, working closely with school administrators, teachers, and community partners to ensure access to support, programs, and services that promote health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and informal assessment to support youth health and well-being
  • Develop and implement health promotion strategies in school and community settings
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to foster cooperation and collaboration among school administrators, teachers, and community partners
  • Model and provide safe, equitable, and inclusive youth support, understanding the diverse experiences of the school and surrounding community
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners to ensure access to support, programs, and services that promote health

About You:

  • Baccalaureate degree in a relevant health care discipline (registered nurse, occupational therapist, social work, nutritionist)
  • Minimum of three years' experience in a relevant field, with direct working experience with youth preferred
  • Registered/licensed with your regulated health care discipline, college or association required
  • Bilingual in French and English, both written and oral
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to critically assess situations and navigate complex scenarios using sound decision-making and a non-judgmental, trauma-informed approach
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in creating opportunities for meaningful youth engagement and fostering youth leadership
  • Demonstrated understanding of the social determinants of health, health equity, and the impact on health outcomes for youth, families, and communities
  • Experience in the application of public health principles and practices, partnership development, and community development

Hours and Compensation:

  • Permanent Part-Time position, 0.83 FTE, 70 hours bi-weekly
  • Salary pro-rated to 0.83 FTE, paid over a twelve-month period
