Position Overview

The Culinary Lead is primarily responsible for overseeing the lunch service, which includes in-lodge dining and preparing packed lunches for outdoor excursions. This role will also support all culinary staff in delivering exceptional meals throughout the winter season.

If you excel in a dynamic kitchen environment set against breathtaking mountain scenery and have a passion for outdoor activities, this unique culinary position may be the perfect fit for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve lunches for both the field program and lodge guests.
  • Engage in menu development, product ordering, and inventory management.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all kitchen equipment and maintain high standards in food preparation and presentation.
  • Implement effective stock rotation and ordering practices to minimize waste.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area.
  • Maintain and care for all kitchen tools and equipment.
  • Participate in staff meetings and pre-service briefings as required.
  • Address special dietary requests with attentiveness and professionalism.
  • Uphold a professional appearance and adhere to punctuality standards.
  • Assist in field operations as needed, including radio communication.
  • Collaborate with other lodge team members as necessary.
  • Follow health and safety regulations, including food safety protocols.
  • Support emergency response efforts as required.
  • Assist guests and staff during field programs as needed.

Qualifications

  • Preferred post-secondary education in hospitality or culinary arts.
  • Valid Food Safe Certification.
  • At least one year of experience in preparing a variety of dishes, including sauces, soups, and sandwiches.
  • Minimum one year of experience in a fast-paced kitchen setting.
  • Experience in luxury hospitality or fine dining is preferred.

  • This position is located in a remote area, requiring employees to manage their own transportation to the lodge.
