Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Merchandise Process Supervisor to join our team at Talize. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the flow of merchandise to the sales floor, maintaining inventory levels, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities
  1. Leadership
  • Support the Merchandise Processing Manager in coordinating the efforts of the Merchandise Processing Team Members and Recyclers.
  • Assist in the selection, screening, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of Merchandise Processing Team Members and Recyclers.
  • Lead training sessions for Merchandise Processing Team Members and Recyclers on sorting, inspecting, grading, and rolling merchandise.
  • Coach Team Members to ensure standards are achieved and maintained.
  • Collaborate with the management team to provide support and share information.
Employee Relations
  • Support the Merchandise Processing Manager in providing direction to Merchandise Processing Team Members and Recyclers on company policies and procedures.
  • Recognize and report policy infractions to the Merchandise Processing Manager or General Manager.
  • Assist in implementing employee recognition programs and events.
Health and Safety
  • Monitor the merchandise processing and recycling area to ensure it is kept clean and organized.
  • Take precautionary measures to prevent external and internal theft.
  • Take action when external and internal theft occurs.
  • Identify and remove hazards, and report them to the Merchandise Processing Manager, General Manager, and Joint Health and Safety Committee.
  • Report and document employee or customer accidents to the Merchandise Processing Manager or General Manager.
Departmental Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and assist with sorting, inspecting, grading, pricing, rolling, and ragging merchandise.
  • Assist the Merchandise Processing Manager in preparing and executing sale days.
Other Duties
  • Maintain professionalism while communicating with peers, managers, and customers.
  • Collaborate with store management to ensure operations and production work together towards common goals.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as requested by the Merchandise Processing Manager or General Manager.
Requirements
  1. 2+ years of experience working in a retail warehouse environment.
  2. 1+ years of supervisory experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  3. Previous work in a thrift retail environment is considered an asset.

Physical Requirements
  1. Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift.
  2. Constant bending, reaching, and using hands for repetitive actions.
  3. Lifting and carrying items up to 50lbs without assistance throughout the shift.
  4. Pushing and pulling merchandise containers on wheels weighing up to 500lbs.
Work Environment
  1. Exposure to dust throughout the shift.
  2. Exposure to periodic temperature fluctuations and noise levels.
  3. Work schedule hours will include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
