Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Coordination

Assist the Merchandise Processing Manager in orchestrating the activities of the Merchandise Processing Team and Recyclers to guarantee a smooth and timely transition of goods to the sales area, while upholding inventory standards. Aid the Merchandise Processing Manager in the recruitment process, including selection, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of new Merchandise Processing Team Members and Recyclers. Take the lead in training Merchandise Processing Team Members and Recyclers on the procedures for sorting, inspecting, grading, and rolling various merchandise. Provide ongoing coaching to Team Members throughout their shifts to ensure compliance with operational standards. Collaborate as a vital member of the management team by offering support, participating in meetings, and disseminating relevant information.

Employee Engagement

Assist the Merchandise Processing Manager in guiding Merchandise Processing Team Members and Recyclers on company policies and procedures. Identify and report any policy violations to the Merchandise Processing Manager or General Manager. Contribute to the execution of employee recognition initiatives and events.

Health and Safety Compliance

Oversee the merchandise processing and recycling areas to ensure they are organized and maintained according to company cleanliness standards. Implement precautionary measures and adhere to company protocols to prevent theft, taking necessary actions when incidents occur. Ensure a safe working environment by identifying and eliminating hazards, and reporting any risks to the Merchandise Processing Manager, General Manager, and Health and Safety Committee. Promptly report and document any accidents involving employees or customers to the Merchandise Processing Manager or General Manager.

Departmental Duties

Facilitate and assist in the sorting, inspecting, grading, pricing, rolling, and ragging of merchandise. Support the Merchandise Processing Manager in preparing for and executing sale events.

Additional Responsibilities

Maintain professionalism in communications with colleagues, management, and customers. Work collaboratively with store management to ensure operational efficiency and alignment towards common objectives, which may involve sharing responsibilities across departments. Undertake other job-related tasks as assigned by the Merchandise Processing Manager or General Manager.

Required Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of experience in a retail warehouse setting. At least 1 year of supervisory experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Previous experience in a thrift retail setting is advantageous.

Essential Skills:

Attention to Detail - Monitor the quality and detail of the team's work, providing constructive feedback for improvement. Problem Solving - Utilize independent judgment to make decisions in various scenarios. Job Recognition - Know when to escalate specific situations to the Merchandise Processing Manager. Reliability - Demonstrate commitment and accountability in completing tasks and projects. Team Building - Foster positive working relationships within the Merchandise Processing department to encourage inclusivity. Communication - Clearly articulate messages to individuals or groups, ensuring understanding.

Physical Demands:

Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift. Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements. Capability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance throughout the shift. Ability to push and pull merchandise containers on wheels weighing up to 500 lbs.

Work Environment:

Exposure to dust throughout the shift. Exposure to varying temperature conditions and noise levels. Work schedule may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
