Jetson Home Inc. is dedicated to transforming the energy landscape by facilitating the shift of 100 million households in North America from fossil fuel dependency to sustainable energy solutions. We envision a future that is entirely electric and significantly improved.


Residential properties are among the largest contributors to carbon emissions, and transitioning to heat pumps can substantially mitigate this impact. However, the current adoption rate is hindered by high costs and complexities in the retrofit process. Addressing just one aspect of the value chain will not suffice for widespread adoption. Mass transition will occur when it becomes an effortless choice for homeowners. Therefore, Jetson is pioneering the first fully integrated home electrification enterprise, simplifying, clarifying, and making heat pump installations affordable for all.


Position Overview:

We seek enthusiastic full stack software developers who are passionate about combating climate change by innovating within the residential HVAC sector. As an early member of our compact engineering team, you will significantly influence the development and architecture of Jetson's software framework. Your role will involve extensive coding for both frontend and backend systems, while also contributing to overarching strategic initiatives. You will collaborate closely with the founding team and will often need to advance projects with limited guidance and competing priorities. Your ability to iterate swiftly will be balanced with a commitment to engineering excellence. Above all, your focus will be on delivering an exceptional experience for our customers and users, ensuring their needs are met effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and manage a substantial portion of Jetson's initial software framework, encompassing websites, user interfaces, and backend systems & APIs.
  • Oversee the complete software development lifecycle: from design and construction to testing, deployment, operation, and maintenance.
  • Continuously seek efficiencies: stay informed about beneficial new AI tools, prefer integrating existing solutions when feasible, and only develop new systems when it is strategically advantageous.
  • Adhere to engineering best practices (aim for simplicity, produce thorough documentation, utilize automation to minimize errors, etc.), while recognizing when to deviate from norms to gain rapid feedback that informs critical product decisions.
  • Work collaboratively with various teams and stakeholders (design, product, field service, founding team) to create a cohesive experience that addresses genuine user needs.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for urgent technical issues.
  • Contribute to other areas of our software ecosystem (mobile, embedded) as required.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development.
  • A commitment to crafting software that delights users and engineers alike, balancing speed with high-quality coding.
  • Expertise in modern frontend web development (preferably React and Typescript).
  • Proficiency in backend web development and API design (Typescript preferred).
  • Experience managing cloud infrastructure using contemporary infrastructure-as-code tools (AWS and Terraform preferred).
  • A versatile generalist who enjoys engaging across various domains, adept at handling frequent context shifts, and eager to learn rapidly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
