Role Overview:

The National Account Manager will be instrumental in enhancing the client's visibility within Canada's leading building supply retailers. The primary objective of this role is to drive sales growth, improve profit margins, and establish the client as a preferred partner for national accounts and large retailers. Collaborating closely with the Sales Director and the Eastern Sales Manager, the National Account Manager will oversee strategic partnerships, execute a comprehensive sales strategy, and facilitate the launch of new products.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Relationship Management
  • Develop and implement national account strategies to increase market penetration.
  • Establish and nurture high-level relationships with key decision-makers at major national retailers.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities within the DIY and contractor markets.
Opportunity Management
  • Drive revenue growth and market share with national accounts including major retailers.
  • Lead annual negotiations and performance reviews with buying groups and national accounts.
  • Guide and mentor a dedicated sales team to ensure effective sales tactics and successful product introductions.
Delivery & Support
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations of the sales team, ensuring accountability for results.
  • Collaborate with product management on pricing strategies and marketing initiatives.
  • Assist supply chain and inventory management teams to enhance inventory control and delivery efficiency.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Proven track record in sales growth and account management.
  • Expertise in building strategic relationships.
  • Strong planning and decision-making abilities.
  • In-depth product knowledge.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful experience in the DIY home improvement industry or contractor-focused sectors.
  • Previous experience managing sales teams is essential.
  • At least 3 years of experience in retail omnichannel environments.
  • Experience in the door & hardware or plumbing sectors is advantageous.
Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and CRM software.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical product features.
Additional Requirements:
  • Willingness to travel (40%) to engage with clients and support the sales team.
  • Fluency in both official Canadian languages is a plus.
