Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of the Gathering space and monitor usage metrics for reporting purposes.
- Design and implement college-wide Black Futures programs and events to foster community involvement.
- Advocate for the objectives of Black Futures Initiatives on pertinent committees and serve as a liaison for faculty and staff inquiries.
- Offer resources and support to enhance awareness regarding anti-Black racism and anti-oppression.
- Establish strategic collaborations with internal and external partners to advance community engagement.
- Develop educational and social initiatives that respond to the needs of the diverse Black community at the college.
- Coordinate with relevant campus units and departments to address intersectional identities and promote inclusivity.
- Gather and evaluate data related to programming and events.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Equity Studies, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of five years of experience in program development within a post-secondary environment.
- Experience in trauma-informed program execution and assessment.
- Proven dedication to social justice and community-oriented initiatives.
- Ability to cultivate positive relationships and collaborate on systemic challenges.
Skills and Attributes:
- Comprehension of African, Caribbean, and Canadian cultural contexts.
- Proficiency in office software applications and digital tools.
- Project management expertise and knowledge of social equity matters.
- Commitment to principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Familiarity with relevant legislation and experience in a post-secondary institution is advantageous.
- Physical capability to lift and transport resources.
