Job Description:

  • Program Management: Manage day-to-day operations of the Gathering space and track usage data for reports.
  • Initiative Development: Plan and execute college-wide Black Futures Initiative programs and events to enhance community engagement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Represent Black Futures Initiatives goals on relevant committees and act as a contact point for faculty and staff inquiries.
  • Resource Provision: Provide resources and support to raise awareness on anti-Black racism and anti-oppression.
  • Partnership Development: Develop strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to promote community engagement.
  • Program Development: Create educational and social programming responsive to the needs of the diverse Black population at the college.
  • Collaboration and Liaison: Liaise with relevant campus units and departments to address intersectional identities and promote inclusivity.
  • Statistics and Evaluation: Collect and analyze statistics related to programming and events.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Education: Four-year degree in Social Work, Equity Studies, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum five years of experience in program development in a post-secondary setting.
  • Skills and Qualifications: Experience with trauma-informed program implementation and evaluation, demonstrated commitment to social justice and community-based work, ability to build positive relationships and collaborate on systemic issues.

Skills and Qualities:

  • Cultural Competence: Understanding of African, Caribbean, and Canadian cultural contexts.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in office computer applications and digital tools.
  • Project Management: Project management skills and knowledge of social equity issues.
  • Equity and Inclusion: Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion principles.
  • Legislative Knowledge: Awareness of relevant legislation and experience in a post-secondary institution is beneficial.
  • Physical Ability: Physical ability to lift and move resources.
