Job Responsibilities:

  • Program Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Gathering space, track usage data, and provide reports to stakeholders.
  • Community Engagement: Plan and execute college-wide Black Futures Initiative programs and events to enhance community engagement and promote inclusivity.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Represent Black Futures Initiatives goals on relevant committees and serve as a contact point for faculty and staff inquiries.
  • Resource Development: Provide resources and support to raise awareness on anti-Black racism and anti-oppression, and develop strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Program Development: Create educational and social programming responsive to the needs of the diverse Black population at the college, and liaise with relevant campus units and departments to address intersectional identities.
  • Analytics and Evaluation: Collect and analyze statistics related to programming and events, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the Black Futures Initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Education: Four-year degree in Social Work, Equity Studies, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum five years of experience in program development in a post-secondary setting, with a focus on social equity and community engagement.
  • Skills and Qualities: Demonstrated commitment to social justice and community-based work, ability to build positive relationships and collaborate on systemic issues, and proficiency in office computer applications and digital tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cultural Competence: Understanding of African, Caribbean, and Canadian cultural contexts.
  • Project Management: Project management skills and knowledge of social equity issues.
  • Equity and Inclusion: Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion principles, and awareness of relevant legislation.
