About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to join our team at Neighbourly Pharmacy in New Westminster, BC. As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in delivering high-quality pharmaceutical services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service, responding to customer inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
- Assist with prescription processing, including data entry, labeling, and packaging under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician.
- Count, measure, and package prescription medications accurately and safely, following established protocols and procedures.
- Manage inventory levels, receive and stock incoming shipments of medications and supplies, and conduct stock rotations as needed.
- Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks to maintain a clean and organized pharmacy area.
- Provide administrative support, including filing, faxing, and scanning documents, and assisting with processing insurance claims and coordinating prescription transfers.
- Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and pharmacy policies, including privacy and confidentiality requirements.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a pharmacy assistant program or relevant healthcare certification preferred.
- Prior experience in a retail or healthcare setting is an asset, but not required; on-the-job training will be provided.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing tasks such as medication counting and labeling.
- Effective organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and pharmacy software systems.
Working Conditions
- This is a full-time position, with standard work hours typically ranging from 35-40 hours per week.
- The position may require standing for extended periods and occasional lifting/moving of moderate-weight boxes or containers.
- Work shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on the operational hours of the pharmacy.
