Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at BC Cancer. As a Registered Nurse, you will provide holistic nursing care to oncology patients, utilizing evidence-based practice to assess, intervene, and manage symptoms, treatment coordination, and administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to oncology patients, including patient assessment, developing and implementing nursing care plans, and delivering treatment as per prescribed protocols.
  • Collaborate with patients, family, and multidisciplinary team members to develop treatment/care plans and modify them as necessary.
  • Administer medications, injections, blood products, and IV fluids as required by the care plan, monitoring patient reactions and changes in physical or mental status.
  • Maintain patient records, collecting and documenting patient information, health care history, nursing assessment, telephone communications, symptom and side effect management, patient and family education, and care evaluations.
  • Admit, transfer, or discharge patients according to BC Cancer policies and Centre directives.
  • Assist patients in interpreting their care plans, referring them to other health care professionals and programs as required.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff by adhering to emergency procedures and safety policies and standards.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Current CPR (Level C) certification.
  • One (1) year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
